Fiesole, the terrace of Florence

Experience the beauty of nature

with a holiday in Tuscany

Fiesole has always been considered a privileged terrace overlooking the Renaissance majesty of nearby Florence.

Fiesole is undoubtedly a succession of extraordinary views of the city of Giglio but it is also a place rich in history inserted in a context of timeless charm. Fiesole was one of the most important Etruscan dominions in Tuscany. From that ancient people it was founded in the distant eighth century BC and it belonged to that people until the Romans managed, after several attempts, to conquer it.

For centuries Fiesole was a bitter enemy of Florence, under whose dominion it fell at the beginning of the twelfth century and from that moment it became a favorite holiday resort for Florentine nobles. Precisely on this magnificent hill the Florentine nobility found the perfect setting in which to build luxurious summer residences, splendid perfectly preserved villas often used as exceptional locations for cinema masterpieces including, for example, “Camera con Vista” by James Ivory .
